“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
I am Rakesh Mandalapa, a computer programmer working for a corporate media company and have a huge passion for travel and photography. My first ever “travel” was a trip to Alaska in summer of 2008 and fell in love with the whole experience. I believe I am still on vacation since then. I have been to around 27 countries and traveled more than 450,000 miles. That’s equivalent to going around the world roughly 11.5 times!. I have slept on the streets, got robbed at knifepoint, camped on the wild, chased by street dogs in indonesia and a whole lot of experiences to share.
Traveling is an humbling and character building experience for me. There is so much to learn in the world and experiences to experience and what better way to do this than to actually do it.
Everyone asks me what my favorite place to travel is? I really don’t know how to answer that. I fall in love with every single place I travel and its hard to explain the way I feel. The analogy I always use is same as falling in love with someone. It’s hard to explain how you feel, but you feel ecstatic and energised all the time.
One of the main reasons I wanted to start a site is for me to share my travel experiences, tips, stories with the rest of the world. I really hope you find my site to be fun and useful. Don’t forget to share the site with your friends! and follow me twitter.
